Waiting

I am a huge Alice in Wonderland fan, so I am kind of on the edge of my seat for the Tim Burton film coming out next year. In the meantime the cartoon version is always good!

‘What’s the little glass thing with sand in it to keep the time?’
Me looking for the word ‘hourglass’ when my uncooperative brain refused to look further than its French name of ‘sablier’.
Why I am always nostalgic in Melbourne on the 14th of July
It is our National Day in France but just another day here: no fireworks, no balls, no people on the street celebrating in the evening.
It is freezing cold as opposed to hot and sunny (as July should be!!). No Military Parade on the Champs Élysées to watch on tv with my sister and my father, a tradition in my family (only choppy youtube videos for me). No father who tells the same trivia every year about the Foreign Legion (he is very excited by the Legion, and always points to the tv and explains that they march slower, and to the sound of ‘Tiens voilà du boudin’, and they wear a leather apron).
So I give you the video of the Legion from last year. This year’s parade hasn’t started yet so I’ll have to wait a couple more hours.
Why won’t you feed me?
Mira has a stomach bug, which meant no food for 24 hours. Mira didn’t appreciate that. Mira does cute things to make you want to feed her (little pirouettes, sitting very upright and staring at you with her brown nearly black round little eyes). Last night no dinner was hard enough, but this morning she nearly killed me by following me everywhere; she even stayed in the bathroom as I was showering, curled in front of the heater into a little ball.
I am so easily manipulated by my dog…..
