Oats à la Jeremy

Posted in regular by Sabine on September 16, 2009

I met Jeremy through my beautiful friend Jen (who likes straws, remember?), and on top of being a lovely guy and a snappy dresser he gave me this amazing trick to make oats.

This is what I learnt:

*Soak the oats first (I use rice or soy milk, I can’t stand oats made with water)

*Simmer the oats without EVER bringing to the boil (I think he mentioned half an hour – I personally can’t wait that long).

*Turn off the flame, leave them to rest (for as long as you can stand to wait).

*Turn the flame back on, simmer again.  You might need to add more milk at this point if the oats have solidified a bit.

My life (and breakfasts, or lunches as is the case today) will never be the same again.

Thank you so much Jeremy!

did you do it according to the time limit though? It does seem to be a long time to wait for porridge…

Lizzie! I actually didn’t ;) I am way too impatient when I’m hungry, so the best I could do was simmer about 5 mn, and wait maybe 5 as well. But it’s still so yummy!
