Paris public transport

20090915PHOWWW00227If you’re in Paris (or are going to be) before October 4th, you might like to go to the photographic exhibition organised by the RATP (‘Régie Autonome des Transports Parisiens’ or ‘Autonomous Operator of Parisian Transports’).  It’s a great opportunity to go back 60 years and see some gorgeous old Paris shots, non?

For a laugh you might also like to know most people in Paris joke RATP stands for ‘Rentre Avec Tes Pieds’ (Go Home with Your Feet), given its low service records and high frequency of strikes.

Ouchy

410pMUkvgdL._SL500_AA280_I am not comfortable with heights – any height – which makes using a step ladder a small accomplishment each time (yay!).

While doing some cleaning in our old apartment this morning, I climbed all the steps to reach something particularly high – ‘I can do it’ I thought, ‘I’m fine, watch me go!’.

Except, when time came to go back down, in a grandiose cartoonish display of clumsy, I fell.  Time slowed down enough for me to try (and fail) to grab on to something, so I crashed to the carpeted floor on my left side with my legs throwing themselves up above my head.  Stylish.

I’m feeling ouchy and sorry for myself, but strangely proud I fell about 1 metre and didn’t break anything (and didn’t cry – that’s right).  But it’s Christian going up the step ladder from now on.
