Vexing

Posted in regular by Sabine on October 18, 2009

On Friday morning nice and early I went to the Blood Bank in South Melbourne, intent on doing a good deed.  Except, my blood refused to flow past filling a teeny bag.  And I went really pale (I’m already pretty pasty, how can you detect further paleness on my face??).  So that little bruise in the crook of my elbow was kind of for nothing, and I feel inadequate.  Nuts.

    you got more pale?!

The last time i tried to donate blood, when they did the little finger pricky thing it said my iron was too low so the lady said “we’ll do a proper blood test if you don’t mind” and so i was fine with it. So she took blood out of one arm for a test and then decided that my iron was fine and took more blood out of the other arm for donation.

    Vampires!!!

I know Lizzie, I did get more pale. I didn’t think it was possible ;)
There definitely *is* a vampire-ish feel to the blood bank!! I’m going back next Friday to try again – I won’t be foiled by my own uncooperative un-flowing blood. There!

Oh and just for the record, my iron levels were within normal range. So take that Sam Neill and your ad for red meat.

You are braver than me. Remember when Kate and I went for an ice cream while you were donating blood?!!
