Ludivine Sagnier is adorable

Posted in Video by Sabine on July 27, 2010

I don’t like François Ozon, but I forgive him for parts of 8 Femmes – particularly giving Ludivine Sagnier a platform for shaking her booty to a cheesy-yet-excellent 1960s French pop song.

This video was shot when the movie came out and shows her rehearsing her dance moves in front of her tv.  Adorable I say.

I liked “swimming pool”, one of two movies recommended to me when I last visited Provence, for bringing back the beauty of the region. It had Ludivine Sagnier in it. It was from the 80′s. The other movie was “A Good Year”, which was made a couple of years before that trip, or maybe just the year before. I have both on DVD now. I love to watch them for views of the Luberon valley, but in the director’s commentary of “A Good Year”, he says that he regrets meddling with the color digitally. He said “people who do that either don’t know what they want, or they don’t know what they’re doing”. He has good reason to regret yellowing up the greens and greying down the blues. It’s still beautiful though, but all strangely like you’re looking at everything at a time of day when you were never outdoors. Hmmmm.

Swimming pool was not the 80′s. It’s from 2003. What made me think that?

And Ridley Scott has a house in the Lubéron! Double shame on him! Have you seen ‘Un Secret’? It’s a kind of heavy family drama set during WWII, but Ludivine Sagnier’s performance really floored me. I still think about a particular moment in the film and can’t get it out of my head. She looks good in a bikini but she can act too!
